Roots of Decavirate Decavirate was originally a self-given name used by a group of Cincinnati friends derived from Latin roots to mean "the ten most important people in the world". Oddly enough, Decavirate never gained ten members. Decavirate.net was started as a basement server project by Adam Fuson in late 2000 to keep track of the Decavirate friends as they went their different ways to college. Adam used old computer parts to assemble a make-shift webserver which housed a website and ftp server, connected to the internet via a cable modem connection. Adam also experimented with programming web-based interfaces for his website, and soon a blog was born. All of this was done while Adam was attending engineering college at the University of Cincinnati. Decavirate Stumbles Early on, the webserver had little security and was wide open to anyone on the net. For a short time some anonymous French computer hackers commandeered the ftp server and used it to store their own data. Soon after evicting the French squatters, the webserver was besieged by the Code Red worm, defacing Decavirate.net with the infamous Hacked By Chinese! phrase. Decavirate Grows Decavirate slowly changed to new group of friends who met regularly at Adam's house and used his website blog. With the upgrade of Decavirate's server to stability, the website enjoyed an extensive collaborative picture section as well as a main page with the current happenings of the Decavirate members with a response forum.
