dearne valley line

The Dearne Valley Line is one of the named British railway lines in the north of England. It runs from York via Pontefract Baghill and Moorthorpe to Sheffield. The railways over which the Line runs were, before the 1923 Grouping, owned as follows:

York - Ferrybridge: North Eastern Railway
Ferrybridge - Bolton on Dearne: Swinton & Knottingley Railway (owned jointly by the North Eastern Railway and the Midland Railway)
Bolton on Dearne - Sheffield: Midland Railway.

Within West Yorkshire it includes the following stations: Metrocard Zone 3

Pontefract Baghill

Metrocard Zone 5

Moorthorpe

Outside of West Yorkshire it includes stations sering the following places (North to South):

York (Also on the Harrogate and York & Selby lines)
Ulleskelf (also on the York & Selby line)
Church Fenton (also on the York & Selby line)
Sherburn-in-Elmet

Rotherham Central (also on the Wakefield line)
