Daytona Usa Championship Circuit Edition

Daytona USA Championship Circuit Edition, known as Daytona CCE, was a rework of the Saturn version of AM2's famous arcade game Daytona USA. Daytona had originally been ported to the Saturn as a launch game, but tight deadlines resulted in what was a very playable, but graphically glitchy game. Sega's CS team, responsible for other Saturn conversions like Sega Rally, created DaytonaCCE to fix the criticisms of the original. It certainly looked a lot better, had 2 extra tracks and a 2-player split-screen mode, and ran at a solid 30 frames per-second (the last two of these features were in essence the Holy Grail of the 32-bit era racing game). However, it was not perfect. New players liked it, but the changes in the handling towards slightly more realism alienated some previous gamers and fans of the original. All in all though, Daytona CCE was a competent game, and viewed as a piece in it's own right could probably be argued to be the best racing game ever released for the Saturn system.
