David Van DriesenDavid van Driesen is a character in the TV series Beavis and Butt-head. He is the boy's teacher and is characterized as an extremely liberal hippy. Like many of the characters on the show, his voice was provided by Mike Judge. He has a goatie beard, long blonde hair and plays the guitar. His attitude can be best summed up when, on a camping trip, he sings a soothing song to Beavis and Butthead, the lyrics being "Men have feelings too/ May I share mine with you?" The song is cut short when he is savaged by a wild bear, much to Beavis and Butthead's amusement. Most of the teachers at Highland High School despise Beavis and Butthead, but Mr Van Driesen sympathizes with them and believes them to be somehow capable of salvation. However, his attempts to appeal to their better sides invariably fail. In one episode, Mr Van Driesen tries to show Beavis and Butthead the concept of the work ethic by paying them to clean his house. The pair predictably do a terrible job, attempting to clean Mr Van Driesen's priceless collection of 8-track recordings by throwing the cartridges into a sink of soapy water. In the episode "Beavis & Butthead Are Dead", where the boys are mistakenly assumed to be deceased when Beavis informs the school he and Butthead are dead - simply to avoid having to go to lessons - Mr Van Driesen is the only teacher who expresses sadness. All his colleagues celebrate with a party.
