David The Gnome

David the Gnome is a 1985 animated series about the goings on in a community of gnomes. It ran for 32 episodes for a half-hour programming slot and was produced in Spain. Series writers Wil Huygen and Rien Poortvliet were also authors of the then popular 1977 book Gnomes, a fictional guidebook to gnome society, which provided the background to the series. In the English language version of the show, the title character, a gnome physician, was voiced by Tom Bosley. The series was narrated by Christopher Plummer. The show is heavily based on the idea of living a moral life in harmony with the world around you, a theme also present in Gnomes and, even more heavily, in the 1987 sequel Secrets of the Gnomes.
