David Rendel

David Digby Rendel (15 April 1949-) is a British politician. He has been Member of Parliament for Newbury, Berkshire for the Liberal Democrats since winning the 1993 by-election caused by the death of Judith Chaplin. He is the Liberal Democrats spokesperson on Higher and Further Education. He won the by-election with a massive majority of 22,055, which may have been caused by tactical voting of Labour voters frustrated that Conservatives had won the 1992 general election. He was member of the University of Oxford boat race crew of 1974.
