David Medina

) is a justice of the
Texas Supreme Court
. He graduated from
Southwest Texas State University
in
1980
, and was a
1989
graduate from
South Texas College of Law
. Medina formerly served as a state
district judge
in
Houston
, a position to which he was appointed by
George W. Bush
(then Governor) in
1996
. He was the first
Hispanic
Republican
to win a countywide election in
Harris County
. After leaving his office, he worked as associate general counsel for
Cooper Industries
. He also served as general counsel to
Rick Perry
before being appointed to his current position by Perry. He is married with two children. Medina, David
