David Gemmell

David Gemmell (born August 1, 1948) is a Times bestseller fantasy author. He was born in West London in the summer of 1948. At the age of sixteen he was expelled from school for organizing a gambling syndicate. He then became a day laborer and a nightclub bouncer in Soho. He also worked as a freelance writer for the London Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, and Daily Express. He published his first novel, Legend, in 1984 which has remained in print. In 1986 he became a full-time writer and released The Swords of Night and Day in 2004. He is considered by many to be Britain's premier fantasy writer. He has now published 27 books, all of which have remained in print. They include:
