Dave Anderson

Dave Anderson (b. May 6, 1929 at Troy, New York) Dave Anderson is an American sportswriter who has been based out of New York City. He began his career after graduating from Holy Cross in 1951. Anderson wrote for a variety of New York papers. He was the writer to cover the Brooklyn Dodgers beat for the Brooklyn Eagle. He joined the New York Times after the New York Herald-Tribune folded in 1966. With the Times, Anderson was given a column in 1971. In 1981, he became the third sportswriter to win the Pulitzer Prize for commentary. He also has received the Red Smith Award from the Associated Press Sports Editors (APSE) and the Dick McCann Award from the Pro Football Hall of Fame for career excellence covering football.
