Data TransferThe movement of data from one location to another is called data transfer. The speed of the transfer is referred to as the data transfer rate. The term was used to cover transfer from one data storage device to another. As it also covers the accessing of a website -- which involves data transfer from web servers to a user's browser -- the more modern definition would be the transfer of data from one environment to another.
