Daryl Reid

Daryl Gary Reid (born November 2, 1950 in Winnipeg) is a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He has served as a member of the Manitoba legislature since 1990, although he has never been appointed to a cabinet position. Before entering politics, Reid worked as an electrician for CN Rail. He was active in the trade union movement, serving as a shop steward and executive board member for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was also the national president of his railway employee's association from 1986 to 1990. Reid was first elected to the Manitoba legislature in the 1990 in the riding of Transcona as a New Democrat, defeating incumbent Liberal Richard Kozak by 4363 votes to 2554. He was re-elected in the elections of 1995, 1999 and 2003, each time by a comfortable margin. In addition to his career as an MLA, Reid is currently on the Board of Directors of the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation.
