Dalecarlian Horse

  Dalahst
The Dalecarlian horse, sometimes symbolizing Sweden, is a red painted wooden horse with white and blue stripes (characterizing harness) forming an artistic pattern. It is also a famous symbol of the Swedish province of Dalecarlia. The somewhat odd shape of the horse is said to be derived from the clocks industry in the region. The horses were originally made of the cutoff corners when making the round clock face. It is said to be Odin's horse Sleipner, but unlike Spleipnir it does not have eight legs.
