Dakshineswar Kali Temple

Dakshineswar Kali Temple is famous for Sriramkrisna and his disciple Swami Vibekananda and Saradama, the wife of Sriramkrisna. It is situated on west bank of river Hooghly. The temple is constructed by Rani Rasmani, who with the help of her son in law Mathur invited a boy named Gadadhar for worshipping of Goddess Kali. Later Gadadhar became Sriramkrisna, famous for preaching philosophical facts in very simple words. He studied almost all major religions, he became muslim and christian to know the inner power of the faiths. Then he said that all religions are same, they are the diferent ways to reach the same goal. His disciple Swami Vivekananda took the message to all part of India and outside the country so much so that he became idol of Indian youth. He preached that work is better than worshipping and asked the youth to come forward to build the nation and to serve the downtrodden. With the help of Saradama, the eternal mother, who was the wife of Sriramkrisna, He started Ramkrisna Mission, at Belur Math, on opposite side of Dakshineswar Kali Temple across the river Hooghly. This Ramkrisna Mission, with its many branches and innumerable followers, are one of the main institutions in India, who are the hope for the people in distress, be it natural calamity or man made disaster, not to mention their work at all aspects life throughout the year.
