Geography D'Iberville is located at 30°26'13" North, 88°53'51" West (30.437048, -88.897619). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.3 km² (4.7 mi²). 12.3 km² (4.7 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 7,608 people, 2,827 households, and 1,976 families residing in the city. The population density is 619.7/km² (1,604.1/mi²). There are 3,088 housing units at an average density of 251.5/km² (651.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 78.21% White, 11.40% African American, 0.37% Native American, 7.03% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.85% from other races, and 2.13% from two or more races. 2.64% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 2,827 households out of which 34.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.6% are married couples living together, 15.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.1% are non-families. 23.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.69 and the average family size is 3.17. In the city the population is spread out with 27.0% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 32.3% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 99.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.9 males. The median income for a household in the city is $34,700, and the median income for a family is $40,347. Males have a median income of $26,774 versus $22,259 for females. The per capita income for the city is $15,846. 11.7% of the population and 9.0% of families are below the poverty line.
