Cyberarmy University - The CyberArmy University (also known as CAU, CAUniversity, or CAUniversity.org) was formed approximately November of 2000, in the early days of the CyberArmy brigades system. Initially the CyberArmy University was named the CyberArmy Academy and the first Commanding Officer was General jarmaug. The original intent of the academy was to provide an educational institute to train and offer support to the members of the CyberArmy. This goal was to be accomplished through a group of dedicated volunteers. As the academy gradually grew into the University, a variety of methods were adopted to fulfil this goal including real-time classes, an online library, and a center for users to test the knowledge they had obtained. Embracing the ever-important principle that knowledge should be free, the CyberArmy University elected to make these resources openly available beyond CyberArmy members, effectively creating an unrestricted educational institute for anyone on the internet. To learn more regarding the history of the CyberArmy University, please visit the History of CAU page.
- Today, General adtrace is the fifth Commanding Officer of the CyberArmy University and both the brigade and website have changed a great deal from their early days back in 2001. Many of the Academy's original groups still exist though they have drastically grown to overshadow their original conception. Always striving to better ourselves, new groups and projects like the Foreign Language Institute and Certifications have been undertaken to supplement those already in existance. One thing that has definitely not changed is the dedication and contributions of great volunteers that make the University not just a website, but a genuine community. A CyberArmy University End of Year Report for 2004 can be viewed by going to the CAU Press Releases section.
- The future holds much promise for the CyberArmy University and we hope everyone will participate and make the most of the services and resources we provide. More information on the various nodes of the CyberArmy University is provided below and we encourage you to read through it. If you have questions or comments regarding the University or would like to get involved in this great community, please contact adtrace either by email, or through the CyberArmy Messaging Service (cMS). Alternately, someone will be able to assist you directly in CAU's channel #cauniversity on CyberArmy's IRC network (help on using IRC is available here). On behalf of the CAUniversity staff, welcome, and enjoy your stay.
.:Class Delivery (Est. late 2001): We strive to provide training materials and classes that are current and of value. Classes are taught in real time, by a real instructor via the channel #class on CyberArmy's IRC network. Classes cover a wide array of topics which range from HTML and different programming languages to networking and security. The University is always on the lookout for volunteers to teach; contact tulkas if you are interested in sharing your knowledge. Upcoming classes and archived logs from previous classes can be accessed by going to the Class Delivery website. .:The Knowledge-Bank (Est. mid 2001): We strive to provide an online library consisting of original content primarily written by members of the CyberArmy University and the CyberArmy public at large. The Knowledge-Bank hosts articles and tutorials on a vast set of subjects ranging from graphics, to operating systems, to programming languages. The Knowledge-Bank website also includes such features as 'Newest Additions,' 'Higest Rated,' and 'Most Read' lists. If you are interested in contributing your work to the Knowledge-Bank (and absolutely everyone is welcome to do so, member or not), please view the Author's Editing Guide and use the Article Submission Script to upload your completed document. Please contact Rodge if you have any further questions. .:Testing Center (Est. late 2001): We strive to provide a place for site members to test both their existing knowledge on a variety of subjects, and the knowledge they have aquired on the CAU site. Quizzes are compiled on class logs and Knowledge-Bank articles to test your comprehension of the materials covered. More comprehensive exams are written to test existing knowledge on a broader spectrum. The Testing Center has completed it's beta phase and the full version will be publicly released soon. Please contact adtrace with any further questions, and check back for updates. .:Certifications (Est. late 2002): Finally, we strive to provide a place where all of the aforementioned resources come together into a comprehensive education and learning environment. Certifications will aim to teach a specific portion of a subject (for example, Beginner Level PHP, or an Introduction to Cryptography) and will consist of articles and tutorials, classes or logs (where available), supplemental readings, and practice quizzes, broken into individual chapters, each with a clearly defined learning goal. The end of each chapter will be accompanied by a chapter quiz, and successful completion of all chapter quizzes will make a final exam available. Upon successfully passing a final exam, a user will be certified in that area of expertise. For more information, please visit the Certifications website. Please contact adtrace if you would like to begin compiling a certifications course, or if you have any further questions.
