Cugir

Cugir (Hungarian: Kudzsir, German: Kudschir) is a city in Alba county, Romania, with a population of 30,244. The medieval village was first mentioned in a document in 1493 as "Villa Kudzur". Around 1539, it had about 700 inhabitants. In 1799 an iron and steel factory was built in Cugir, being one of the first of Transylvania.
