Croxteth HallCroxteth Hall is the former country estate of the Earl of Sefton, now managed by the Liverpool City Council. The original house was built in about 1575. The Hall and it outbuilding are a Grade II* Listed Building, as are 3 other buildings, another 15 on the estate are Grade II. Much of the original estate has since been sold off for development, but approximately 500 acres (2 km²) remain as a country park, which is open to the public. The estate also contains the historic Hall itself, as well as a maintained Victorian walled garden, and a working country farm. The Hall and its grounds are a popular tourist destination, offering one of the better-preserved glimpses into what the country life of nobility was once like; these can be visited for a fee.
