Craigievar Castle

Craigievar Castle is a castle near Alford in the former Grampian region of Scotland. An excellent example of Scottish Baronial architecture, the great seven-storey tower of the castle was completed in 1626 by the Aberdonian merchant William Forbes, ancestor to the Forbes-Sempill family. As of 1963, the castle, its estate, and 60 acres (240,000 m²) of adjoining farmlands are owned by the National Trust for Scotland. They are open to tourists during the summer months.
