Countryside Council For Wales

The Countryside Council for Wales (Welsh: Cyngor Cefn Gwlad Cymru) is the United Kingdom Government's wildlife conservation authority for Wales. It acts as the statutory advisory body and aims to sustain natural beauty and wildlife and to provide opportunities for outdoor enjoyment of the Welsh landscape and its inshore waters. CCW administers the various conservation designations, including a special one for Wales: Special Landscape Area. Wales has three National parks, five AONBs (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), and 10% of Wales covers many SSSIs (Site of Special Scientific Interest). About 70% of the Welsh coastline are SACs (Special Area of Conservation). Equivalent bodies in other parts of the United Kingdom: See: List of Conservation topics, Conservation in the United Kingdom
