Corps Of Mines (France)

The Corps of Mines is the foremost of the great technical corps of the French state. It is formed of the State Engineers of the Mines. The Corps is attached to the French ministry in charge of industry. People entering the Corps are educated at the cole nationale suprieure des Mines de Paris. Most of them are from cole Polytechnique; these are known as X-Mines; the rest come from cole Normale Suprieure or the regular curriculum of the cole des Mines. Many executive positions in France's industries are held by X-Mines engineers.
