Copper Country Mall

The Copper Country Mall is a shopping mall located at 47420 Highway M26 in Houghton, Michigan (actually just outside the city limits in Portage Township, Houghton County, Michigan). It is anchored by J.C.Penney, Jo-Ann Fabrics and Dunham's Sports and contains a five-theatre multiplex. Though owner Developers Diversified Realty claims that Office Max is a part of the mall, the building is actually structurally separate. Since the 2002 closure of the mall's Kmarthttp://www.angelfire.com/mi4/cactusbob2k2/kmart.html, many stores in the mall have closed and its occupancy rate has declined. Questions about the future of the mallhttp://www.mininggazette.com/news/story/115202004_new01-n1105.asp have continued with the November 2004 closing of the Payless Shoes store. In October 2004 the new CCM Gallery opened at the mall with a display of amateur photography. The mall's parking lot is the site of a seasonal farmer's market.http://www.ams.usda.gov/farmersmarkets/States/Michigan.htm#H References
