Copenhagen Airport (Kbenhavns Lufthavn, Kastrup in Danish) located on the island Amager, is the major airport serving Copenhagen, Denmark, being located 8 km from the city. The airport is the main hub for Scandinavian Airlines System. Copenhagen Airport serves about 50,000 passengers per day. 18.3 million passengers passed through the facility in 2002. A train station, opened in 2000, is located directly beneath the arrival hall. Also a Copenhagen Metro station is planned to be in operation by 2007. Malm-Sturup Airport (MMX), east for Malm, serves as a secondary airport for Copenhagen and Malm. Copenhagen Airport was originally called Kastrup Airport, since it's located in the small town of Kastrup, and the latter name is still in use. Copenhagen Airports A/S own a 49% stake in Newcastle Airport. The airport has 18,000 employees, and has a maximum capacity of 83 loadings/hour, with room for 108 airplanes.

1925 April 20 opened. It was one of the first private airports in the world. It opened with a grass runway

1986 Parking garage with 2400 spaces opened
1999 Baggage handling system modernised
2000 20-22 million Passengers per year.
2001 A 5 star Hilton hotel with 382 beds is opened at the airport.
2001 267,000 take offs and landings.
