Coonabarabran

Coonabarabran, a town in northern New South Wales, Australia, has about 3000 inhabitants and was established in the 1850s. It is located on the Newell Highway and the Oxley Highway and can be reached in about six hours by car from Sydney. Coonabarabran is the gateway to the Warrumbungles National Park and has several motels, hotels and a video store. Coonabarabran is the closest town to the Anglo-Australian Observatory, which houses the largest optical telescopes in Australia.
