A Contract with God is also a form of covenant. Individuals or groups form a contract with a deity in which they pledge to act in a specific manner in return for the protection or special favor from the deity. In some Christian religions, these contracts are seen as blasphemous because they claim to limit the power of god, which cannot be limited by man.
