Contraceptive Patch

A contraceptive patch is a transdermal patch applied to the skin that releases estrogen and progestin hormones to prevent pregnancy. They are thought to have the same effectiveness as the contraceptive pill. However, there is an ongoing debate about if they are more likely to cause deep-vein thrombosis due to the publicised deaths of some young women recently in the U.S.
