Continental Bank Of CanadaThe Continental Bank of Canada was formed when IAC, a financing company, decided to expand the scope of operations in the 1980s. This small bank struggled for several years before being acquired by Lloyd’s of London, United Kingdom and being turned into Lloyd’s Bank of Canada in 1986. After several years of losses, Lloyd’s Bank sold its Canadian operations to Hongkong Bank of Canada, (now HSBC (Canada)) in 1990. See also: List of Canadian banks
