Conservative Pulseright Founded in February of 2003 by Austin Cassidy and Stephen Covington, Conservative Pulse, or "CP," is an Internet forum and grassroots activist organization that encourages political debate and action. Membership Despite its name, membership is open to those of all political and ideological backgrounds. As of January 18, 2005, the forum had 375 registered members, with the most members ever online at once being 67. Based on their number of posts, members are given "ranks" of American Presidents (all Republicans) that appear below their avatars. Administrators automatically have the rank of George Washington. Discussion The administrators tend to take a relatively permissive, hands-off attitude, and as a rule do not remove dissenting opinions. However, the site has stated policies against extreme racism, and personal attacks with no value in discussion. CP has hosted diverse threads posted by pre-neoconservatives (self-styled as "paelocons") heavily opposed to the policies of George W. Bush, pro-communist threads, and posts advocating the legalization of marijuana. As of January 18, 2005, CP users had posted a total of 43070 articles. CP Events Conservative Pulse held one live chat in 2003, which was considered by the membership to have been marginally successful. Since that time, no more chats have been held, although the subject has been floated several times. The CP Members Choice Awards, held between June and September 2004, included categories such as "Hottest Conservative," "Hottest Liberal," "Favorite Founding Father" and "Lamest American Ally." In all, there were seven categories. External Links * Conservative Pulse Forums
