Conanicut Island
is the second largest island in
Narragansett Bay
, in the state of
Rhode Island
. It is connected by the Newport Bridge, recently renamed the Senator Claiborne Pell Bridge, a toll bridge, to the city of
Newport
on
Aquidneck Island
on the east and to
North_Kingstown%2C_Rhode_Island
on the western shore of Narragansett Bay on the west by the Jamestown-Verrazzano Bridge.
