Communication University Of China

The Communication University of China (Simplified Chinese: 中国传媒大学) is a university in Beijing, China. It was formerly known as the Beijing Broadcasting Institute (北京广播学院, pinyin: bei jing guang bo xue yuan) (or Beijing Broadcasting University) is located in Dingfuzhuang, just outside of the Eastern 5th Ring Road in Eastern Beijing. It is easily accessible via car or via Beijing subway Batong line, with the stop "Guangboxueyuan" (广播学院) just next to the institute. It was founded in March of 1954. Extensive topics relating to broadcasting, such as hosting and presenting, news, media, animation, production of movies, and related TV technologies are taught there. On August 19, 2004, the State Council of the People's Republic of China approved the renaming of the institute to the Communication University of China, making it an official "university" instead of a mere "institute". The university is under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. Noted CCTV broadcasters, such as Luo Jing (of 7 o'clock news fame), Hai Xia, and presenters from Phoenix Television (Hong Kong), such as Chen Luyu and Dong Jiayao, graduated from the university. As a result, its recognition in the Chinese media circle is very prominent. Bachelor, master and doctor's degrees are handed out to graduates. The foreign student population is approximately 200.
