Command, Control, Communications And Intelligence

Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence, or C3I is a military term that is used to describe an infrastructure that supports joint operations by a military force. It provides the means of gathering and distributing military intelligence, and directing events, usually in a modern battlefield situation. It is the successor to Command and Control (C2 or C-squared), Command, Control and Communications (C3 or C-cubed) and Command, Control and Intelligence (C2I) as a term to describe equipment – electronic and mechanical – that supports the General Staff in the direction of tactical operations from a static or mobile headquarters.
