Combined Nuclear And Steam Propulsion

The Combined Nuclear And Steam propulsion system (CONAS) is used on the Admiral Nakhimov class (previously Kirov class) Guided missile cruisers. The nuclear component generates steam, which is reheated by conventional boilers when higher speeds are required. Two geared steam turbines are driven, generating 120,000 hp (89 MW) at two prop shafts.
