Colonial Spanish

The Colonial Spanish horse is a breed descended from the original Spanish stock brought to the Americas. The breed encompasses many strains and breeds found in North America. These include the Spanish Mustang, Sorraia Mustang, Pryor Mustang, Kiger Mustang, Sulphur Mustang, Cayuse, Indian Horse, Spanish Barb, Wilbur-Cruce, Abaco Barb, and others. These horses are in critical condition and are registered by several registries, The Horse of the Americas an inclusive umbrella registry for all Colonial Spanish breeds, The Spanish Mustang Registry, The Spanish Barb Breeders Association, The Southwest Spanish Mustang Association, The Kiger Mesteno Association, Steen Mountain Kiger Registry, Sulphur Horse Registry, American Sulphur Horse Association, and the American Indian Horse Registry to name a few.
