Clifton, West Yorkshire

Clifton is a small village in England, near the town of Brighouse. It was mentioned in the Doomsday book of 1086. Clifton is home to a shop, post office, Junior and Infant school and an anglican Church in the Diocese of Wakefield. In addition, there are two public houses situated at either end of the main street - Towngate (a third public house ceased to exist in the mid-1900's, and has since become a private residence). At the easterly end of the village is Kirklees Hall, containing the reputed grave of Robin Hood. Clifton is in the borough of Calderdale.
