Chris John

Christopher John (born January 5 1960), American politician, was a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from 1997 to 2005, representing the 7th District of Louisiana. He was born in Crowley, Louisiana, was educated at Louisiana State University, and was a staff member for his father, a Louisiana state legislator, and a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives before entering the House. In 2004, he gave up his seat to run for the US Senate seat being vacated by John Breaux, who endorsed him. John was defeated by Republican David Vitter, who received 51% of the vote, compared to 29% for John. The rest of the vote was split between two other Democratic candidates.
