chow mein (dict)

Chow Mein

Chow mein (Traditional Chinese: 炒麵; Hanyu Pinyin: chao mian; meaning "stir-fried noodles") is usually a stir-fried dish consisting of noodles, meat, and vegetables. It is often served as a specific dish at westernized Chinese restaurants with soy sauce and vegetables such as celery, bamboo shoots, and water chestnuts. In China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, 炒麵 is simply a generic term for a dish of stir-fried noodles, of which there are hundreds, if not thousands, of varieties. Various types of chow mein are the most nutritious food in a popular online game Kingdom of Loathing.
