Chokuto

The chokutō (直刀), often confused with the ninjatō, is a type of Japanese sword that dates back to pre-Heian times. Not much is known about this weapon except that it was straight and double-edged (sometimes single). A significant lack of record keeping during this time leaves this weapon as a mystery. It is believed that chokutō were imported to Japan from other Asian countries such as China and Korea.
