The Chlorophyta sensu stricto or chlorophyte algae, comprises most of what are commonly called green algae and includes most members of the grade of putatively ancestral scaly flagellates in Prasinophyceae plus members of Ulvophyceae, Trebouxiophyceae, and Chlorophyceae. They contain both Unicellular and multicellular species. Generally, they are restricted to water or very damp habitats. They posess Chlorophylls & accessory pigments similar to those of vascular plants. They store energy asstored as starch.
