Chiswick CHIZ-ick is a suburb in the London Borough of Hounslow. It is one of the best known suburbs in west London and lies approximately halfway between central London and Heathrow Airport. Generally perceived amongst Londoners as a desirable place of abode, Chiswick today is noted for its retail opportunities (on Chiswick High Road), a significant variety of restaurants and food outlets and expanding office space. Historically, Chiswick is noted as the former residence of the 18th century English artist William Hogarth and the location of one of the best examples of 18th century Palladian architecture, Chiswick House. Chiswick is divided into a number of districts that reflect the historical development of the area:
