chiranjeevi

Chiranjeevi (చి్రంజీవి) (born August 22, 1955) is a popular actor in Andhra Pradesh. Though his major interest remains Telugu cinema, he has grown in popularity and is now well-known all over India.

Early Years

Chiranjeevi was born in Narsapur, West Godavari district to Venkat Rao and Anjana Devi. Chiranjeevi is his screen name which has now become the name by which all the people know him or call him. His real name Siva Sankara Vara Prasad (First Name), Konidela (Last Name) has become a popular question in movie quizes.

Career

After graduating with a B.Com degree, he joined an acting school in Madras. He then started off by acting in small roles in movies. His first movie was 'Pranam Khareedu' released in 1978. To this day he has acted in over 130 films. He holds many film records in Telugu cinema and is currently the most influential star in Telugu cinema. His brother Pawan kalyan is also a big star in his own right. He holds a lot of influence over his fans.

Charity

Apart from being a successful actor, he also has another face, that of a social servant. In the year 1998, he started the Chiranjeevi Eye and Blood Bank and Charitable Trust to serve the less fortunate.
