Chipotle Mexican GrillFounded by Steve Ells in 1993, Chipotle Mexican Grill is a Colorado-based burrito and taco restaurant that is famous for their chunky guacamole and for being one of the first successful franchises in the newer category of fast-casual dining establishments--with more emphasis on quality and slightly higher prices than traditional fast food, but still a quick meal. The chief investor in Chipotle is the McDonald's Corporation. The first restaurant started in Colorado, near a local university, and restaurants have since opened throughout the US. Their menu is fairly simple, with your choice of one of 4 styles of wrap (hard or soft tacos, burrito, fajita burrito, or burrito bol), one of 4 meats (chicken, pork, shredded beef, or steak) or vegetarian, and various additional toppings. In addition, 4 types of salsa are available: a mild tomato, two medium ones, and a hot one. The pricing is based off of which meat one orders. Latching on to the health food craze that gripped the nation, Chipotle is moving towards all natural ingredients.
