Chinese Evergreen Magnolia

Chinese evergreen magnolia, Magnolia delavayi, as its name suggests, is native to the Southern half of China. A small tree 8-10m in height, it is often grown for its large (up to 30cm) oblong-ovate evergreen foliage rather than for its thick, fragrant, cream-colored flowers which appear on the plant from July to August. Though the city tree of Chongqing, this magnolia is uncommon in cultivation elsewhere.
