Chhun Yasith

Chhun Yasith (aka Cambodian Moses) was born in the Kingdom of Cambodia, he is a Cambodian American.

Biography

He left Cambodia fleeing the Khmer Rouge and immigrated to the United States in 1982. He became a an tax accountant in Long Beach, California. In 1988, he returned to Cambodia and joined the opposition Sam Rainsy Party, but left after a year because the non-violent opposition was useless. In 1998, he established the the Cambodian Freedom Fighters (CCF) an an exiled anti-communist organization and serves as their President. On June 22, 2001, the Cambodian Criminal Court handed down their verdict on the Cambodian Freedom Fighters attack on November 24, 2000, he was found guilty in absentia and sentenced to life on charges of conspiring to commit terrorism along with Richard Kiri Kim and Thong Samien. Currently the government of Prime Minister Hun Sen has issued a international Interpool warrant for Chhun Yasith's arrest.
