Chevrolet Ss

The SS is a high performance package from Chevrolet for many of its vehicles. The most well known of them is the SS-454 Chevelle, the SS Camaro, and SS Nova and ElCamino. In some years prior to 1969, the SS was considered its own car model, even though it was based on a car already in production. For example, the 1968 SS396 was considered its own model, not a Chevelle. In modern times the SS package has been used on several GM vehicles including pick-up trucks. Usually the option includes high performance tires, heavy duty suspention and upgrated motor or HP ratings. And all SS models come with the "SS" markings. It is easy to spot an SS compared to a "plain-Jane" model. However, it is not so easy to tell the difference between a genuine SS and a "clone" which has been altered to look like an SS. There are far more SS "look-a-likes" out there than people realize. There may even be more SS clones out there than genuine SSs. This is why when people are in the market to buy older "SS" cars, they must do their research and contact their local car clubs for help.
