Chester Thordarson

Chester Thordarson (1867 - 1945) was an inventor who eventually held nearly a hundred patents. He immigrated to the United States from Iceland in 1873. During his lifetime he founded a successful manufacturing company in Chicago, Illinois and established a vacation retreat on Rock Island, an island adjacent to Wisconsin's Door Peninsula. Several years after his death Rock Island became a state park.
