Chess Player's ChronicleThe Chess Player's Chronicle was the world's first important English-language chess magazine, founded in 1841 (the French Le Palamede was founded in 1836; an earlier English periodical, The Philidorian, was founded in 1837 but lasted for just six issues). It was founded and edited by Howard Staunton. Published by the Polytechnic press, The Chess Chronicle was a 40 page magazine devotedly entirely to chess. It contained correspondence, challenges, anecdotes and problems from the world of chess. It also include both played and theoretical games.
