Chena RiverThe Chena River is a river that flows in the interior of Alaska from the Alaskan White Mountains east of Fairbanks into the Tanana River near Fairbanks. The river is about 100 km (60 miles) long. It is fed by five tributaries: the North Fork, South Fork, West Fork, Middle (East) Fork and the Little Chena. All the forks empty into the Middle Fork which is the main section of the Chena River. Fairbanks was built on both banks of the Chena River. The Chena River is home to several species of fish and is a spawning area for king salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha).
