Chaoyang District, Beijing

Beijing's Chaoyang district (Simplified Chinese: 朝阳区; Hanyu Pinyin: Choyng Qū) is home to a good part of Beijing's diplomatic quarters, with many embassies located in the area. It occupies an area of 475 square kilometers, and has a population of 1.59 million, making it the second most populous district of Beijing. Its Postal code is 100020. The famous Sanlitun bar street also finds its home in Chaoyang district, as well as Beijing's evolving CBD and the Olympic Park that is being built for the 2008 Summer Olympics. Chaoyang district is expansive in size, stretching as far west as Chaoyangmen on the eastern 2nd Ring Road, and extending nearly as far east as the Ximazhuang toll station on the Jingtong Expressway. Within the urban area of Beijing, it is the largest district. (Haidian comes in at a close second.) It also stretches north towards the airport area. In fact, it also hosts Beijing Capital International Airport, an exclave within Shunyi District. Notable areas in Chaoyang District:
