Chamizal Dispute
The
Chamizal dispute
was a conflict over the border between
Mexico
and the
United States
that is marked by the
Rio Grande
. The river had shifted since it was first surveyed in 1852, leaving the two countries unclear as to which land belonged on which side. The dispute has been resolved.
