Celibate HomosexualA celibate homosexual is someone who identifies as gay (homosexual), but, often for religious reasons, lives a celibate life. For many gay people who are also practicing Catholics, the guilt of being homosexual (often perceiving themselves as sinners, even if the Church doesn't hold this view) leads those who wish to become priests to still identify as homosexual, albeit closeted, often to preserve the Church's image. Gay people, like straight people, can be celibate for a number of non-religious reasons. Many single gay people find casual sex distasteful or morally wrong. Young gay people may not be emotionally ready to cope with a sexual relationship. Some gay people just do not enjoy sex.
