Ccgs Samuel Risley

The CCGS Samuel Risley is a Canadian Coast Guard vessel; a light icebreaker buoy tender and aid to navigation. She can break ice up to 2 feet in depth. The Samuel Risley is based in the Great Lakes. And during the winter it is her responsibility to try keep an ice free passage from Port Colborne, Ontario to Thunder Bay, Ontario. The Samuel Risley has a tall foredeck, and a long low quarterdeck, for carrying buoys, with a very large crane. The Samuel Risley is named after a 19th Century maritime inspector.
